Today's Action: Day 11 Results!

Two games today! Two!!

Game 1:

Hoof In Mouth Disease (Gibby/Ralves) vs. The Chug-A-Lugs (Guido/Voss)

If you removed the noise from the crowd, the swamp coolers, the toaster oven, the planes overhead, and the drive-by shootings, this is what you would have heard for ten minutes at Centre Court:

p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink
p-tink...

The other thing you might have heard was the sound of snoozing. I suppose it should be no surprise at this point, but when the Chug-A-Lugs hit the court, best have a soft pillow handy. Hands-down the snooziest team in the tournament, but let's make this note: they're still in the tournament! They make very few mistakes and return just about everything. Very solid and very tough to beat, as we saw today.

Remember your lessons from the tortoise and the hare...

Game 2:

Agent J (Jean/Jeremie) vs. The Sody-Pop Gang (Steve G/J Brown)

I think we all saw this coming. The Sody-Pop Gang was like Klaus Kinkski in Aguirre, Wrath Of God: too unstable to survive. The volatile mixture of Steve "Iceman" Gerardin and The Ritalin Kid just had to implode and today was the day. The only surprise, really, was that they collapsed before the game even started! They looked like the Keystone Kops during the service rally. Perhaps there were too many cocktails at lunch, but the boys looked disoriented and out of their element. They lost the rally and quickly imploded to fall behind 2-7. Things improved slightly, but by the time J Brown lasered a slam past Agent J at eye level, it was all over but for the final tally. Most of the crowd interest occurred when Super-Fan Jonathan Knight caught an errant slam in the pills and Jean Shen took one in the pillular area. Dovi insisted that a comeback was in the works (due mostly to wishful thinking with regards to his ill-advised wager with Kane), but even he knew that he was grasping at straws as a single tear silently slid down his cheek. Ultimately, the game wasn't as close as the score would indicate.

my movie analogy for Sody-Pop gang wouldve been Christian Bale in The Machinist.
